What I Love about The Chinese!

We (my parents and sister) were very impressed, how advanced China was at that time compared to India. In India we were under the impression that China was still like India, mostly rural population and poor country, because of how it was portrayed in the Chinese movies, I suppose! (especially from watching Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan movies :)).

I used to love Chinese movies and the cute chinese kids. So, I grew up watching many chinese movies .

For whatever reason, in the 80s, the Indian national TV channel(Doordarshan) used to show Chinese movies, Science Fiction shows(Star Trek, V), English movies, English Rock, Pop Music! And, we used to borrow video cassette of Jackie Chan movies (from a video lending library) and enjoy watching them. Kung Fu used to fascinate us, because of Jackie Chan’s stunts.

We watched a spectacular show on a river in Yangshou:

At that time, most Chinese were not conversant in English and it was a big task trying to converse with them, but the guides were proficient in english to an extent and we managed somehow to communicate with them.

Of course, Indians love Chinese food, as do I. Though I must say, the actual Chinese cuisine is vastly different from the Indianised chinese food 🙂

My sister and I, were captivated by the cute Chinese kids. And the Chinese were fascinated by my sister’s big beautiful eyes and my mother’s colourful attire :

Interestingly, few Indians helped setup the support center in China for the MNC that I was working in.

So, basically Humans are Humans anywhere you go. We all have similar dreams, aspirations, love for other humans.
